West Valley College, Score, and HSN have partnered up to host “Score your Dream in SF Bay Area”.

Students and other aspiring entrepreneurs who have consumer product ideas will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to HSN executives and be selected to sell their products to 96 million households on the HSN network. This will be a wonderful learning experience for our students who will be able to refine their business models with the help of mentors at no cost to them and practice their pitch skills.

Pitch Applications will be accepted no later than Oct 14.

2018 NACCE Go West Conference

The Business and Entrepreneurship Sector is partnering with the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) to put on a Go West Conference in San Francisco.  The theme is Making, Inventing, and Entrepreneurship: New Pathways and New Opportunities.  We encourage you to take advantage of this great professional development and networking opportunity. The Business and Entrepreneurship Sector DSNs are providing a limited amount of funding to cover the registration fees for community college faculty, K-12 teachers, administrators and others to attend.  Please contact the Business and Entrepreneurship DSN for your region  for a promo code and instructions to access this funding.  Your college does not have to be a current NACCE member to take advantage of this.

Virtual Enterprise Los Angeles Area Trade Show in Pasadena

The Doing What Matters for Jobs and the Economy Small Business Sector sponsored and participated in the Virtual Enterprise Los Angeles Area Trade Show in Pasadena on February 13th which had 1,200 total attendees from 59 Schools.  This was one of several regional VE Trade Shows across the state where students participate in experiential learning and compete with other high schools from across the state and nation.  Click here to view a video of the Trade Show.

"Get a Taste of Success" Business Pitch Competition

The annual "Get a Taste of Success" Business Pitch Competition provides an opportunity for high school and community college students to develop entrepreneurial skills necessary to succeed in business. After an exciting final round live-pitch event, the top three community college and high school winners were announced:

1st Place: Fleur A Cheval  - Irvine Valley College

2nd Place: MicroModula Mobile Design Studio for Female Creatives – San Diego Continuing Education

2017 Digital Media Educators Conference

The Small Business Sector partnered with the ICT-Digital Media Sector to host the 2017 Digital Media Educators Conference in June, 2017. The conference brought together nearly 300 business and digital media faculty from across the state to discuss the expanding fusion of digital media in business, government and healthcare. Keynote presentation videos and presentation slides will be posted soon for those who were unable to attend.
